It is better to go for Ponder because Pounder is toughest guy in game till date.You can buy Pounder by spending 5500 Rings from Shop.

You are in early game and you will get so much rings at beginning by following things.
1. Earning trophies in multiples of 100 will earn Rings in quest section.
2. Completing different tasks in quest will earn you more Rings
3. Go in Events menu you can claim free Daily perk packs under Super Gift packs which will give you 5 Rings daily.
4. Arena will give you significant amount of Rings.
5. You can also win Rings in treasures opened in Campaign, Resource Raid, Lords League.

Collecting 5500 rings will seem little tough but it is better to save Rings and buy Pounder rather than blaming your luck while hiring.
